Man with a Movie Camera – Call for Participation
Perry Bard at the School of the Visual Arts in New York is running a creative experiment in participatory media. In 1929, Dziga Vertov made a film entitled “Man with a Movie Camera” pulling together a cinematic version of one full day with footage shot in Moscow, Riga, and Kiev. Some have called the first urban documentary. Now Perry Bard is asking users to interpret Vertov and upload their own footage. The results are going to be displayed on her site and Big Screen Machester. OK, I haven’t done a great job of describing the project – so read what Perry has to say at her site http://dziga.perrybard.net/. You can see “Man with a Movie Camera” there – haunting in a lot of ways.
