Tech4Turn 4/25 -- New Media Project Demos

Crystal balls are so 1990's! If you want to see the future, look at what college students are doing. At Technology for the Turnaround (http://www.mynmi.net/Tech4Turn/) on Saturday, 4/25 we will be showcasing over 15 new media student projects. Here is a teaser with a partial list of the kind of stuff you can see.

And remember all of our projects start with five words
"Wouldn't it be cool if ..."
  • ... you could take a picture of a bar code (ok, QRCode) with your smart phone (ok, iPhone) to get backstage info during your tour of the Georgia Aquarium? (project = MyAquarium)
  • ... you could access a mobile site to hear (yeah, audio) about the local scene from local experts -- who just used their phone to record their inside info? (project = Neighborhood)
  • ... you could create and distribute a local music show -- in just two hours using just a phone? ( project = ListenUpLocal)
  • ... your iPhone could help you enjoy the Athens Twlight (http://www.athenstwilight.com/) even more with live pictures, maps, and video? (project = Twilight)
  • ... you could discover nature using on your TV, computer, and iPhone? (project = US Fish & Wildlife)
  • ... you could see video explorations of how digital media is changing the way we live our lives? (project = digital story telling)
  • ... you could build a playable videogame in just 48 hours? (project = Global Game Jam)
  • ... you could help fight AIDS with a cellphone? (project = AIDS Personal Public Service Announcement)
  • ... you could peek inside a game development project to see how games get built? (project = GameLab)
  • ... you could watch real BROADCAST TV on your cellphone? (project = MobileTV)
  • ... you could see all of this and a ton more?
You can experience all of these projects and a bunch more at Technology for the Turnaround. And RSVP at http://www.mynmi.net/Tech4Turn/) because we want to involve you in a cool way to forecast the digital media future. Yeah, if you are registered you get to invest -- our money (don't get too fired up -- it is not real)!
