This DBB (Tues. 9/18, 12:30P) 360 OTC – Viral Marketing

We are tuning out ads. We skip them with Tivos. We channel surf during commercial breaks. We rent DVDs and subscribe to HBO to avoid them all together. Heck, some of us even listen to National Public Radio to pretend commercials don’t even exist. So how are companies going to get out the word about their products (remember our economy runs on commerce). Viral marketing avoids the traditional system of buying ad space or time. Companies work to develop content that highlights their products. But the content is so good/catchy/weird/surprising/fun that people start passing it around on their own. Communicating product info through contact as though it were a virus. 360 OTC (http://www.360otc.com/) is an Athens-based company that makes the only FDA approved hangover cure as well as a number of other pain reliever products. They have taken extreme steps to tap the power of viral marketing. They own a NASCAR racecar. They own a blimp with the world’s largest mobile screen. And they are the official pain-reliever of WWE Wrestling. On Tuesday, Michelle Shearer and Mark DeMattei of 360 OTC will join us to talk about their viral marketing initiatives at the next Digital Brown Bag. I promise it will be interesting! Join us.

I popped two 360 pills right after class to battle my headache and upset stomach. It definitely made me feel better (and kept me alert in Clate's class...just kidding).
