Eddie Garrett promoted to New Media Senior VP at Porter Novelli

Before the New Media Institute was the Dowden Center. And before the Dowden Center there was the Megalab. The Megalab was really just a closet. We had four old computers two of which actually worked. It was the first place in the Grady College where you could get on this crazy new thing called the internet – a big brown cable hanging from a hole in the acoustic ceiling tiles. Man, it was a dump – but we had fun. And some amazing students explored the power of new media there. This week marks an important milestone for our program. One of the first students to take a class in new media at UGA has been promoted to a leadership position at one of the world’s premier public relations firms. Eddie Garrett has just been named the Senior Vice President for New Media at Porter Novelli (http://www.porternovelli.com/). Boy, are we proud! Here is the press release -- http://tinyurl.com/6s9xsc. Go Eddie!
